Your Mission 🔍
- At BlaBlaCar, making a good first impression is key when you meet someone new. This is the job of the Discover squad.
- The mission of the squad is to gather all the trips available on BlaBlaCar (carpool, bus, and soon trains), enrich them with useful information for the users, and render these pages in the blink of an eye (think blazing fast response and web performance).
- As a Junior Java Backend Engineer, you will contribute to the platform we use to deliver scalable and reliable landing pages.
- You will report to Charlotte, Engineering Manager, and work with a team of 3 frontend engineers, 3 backend engineers, and one product manager.
Your Responsibilities 🛠️
- Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of our Java microservices that serve landing pages on the BlaBlaCar platform.
- Contribute in all phases of a project: discovery, development, test strategy, QA, deployment to production, without forgetting observability and support.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to find the most relevant features for our members.
- Interact with people with different roles and backgrounds, sharing your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product, and business experts.
Your Qualifications 🎓
- First experience in Java and its frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito, and in databases (MySQL and SQL).
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture and ability to determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.
- Good communication skills, humble, team player, and motivated to learn.
- Ability to take ownership, aligned with business priorities.
- Full working proficiency in English.

- Some knowledge or prior experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog, agile practices.
