Minimum Requirements 🎓
- Currently pursuing an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree with expected graduation through March 2027
- Must be in school until the end of the internship program
- Available for a 3-month on-site internship in 2025
- No more than 24 months of professional full-time work experience in tech (excluding internships, research/teaching assistant roles, and military experience)
- Overseas Students (Based outside of Japan) who require visa support must meet one of the following requirements:
- Internship program is part of your education and essential for graduation
- Internship allows you to receive credit(s) for your education program
- Have a Bachelor's degree at the time of application

Team 👥
The Generative AI Engineering team builds Generative AI-based solutions that improve productivity within Toyota Group companies.
Who Are We Looking For? 🔍
We seek an engineering intern passionate about GenAI-based solutions. As an intern, you'll collaborate with our team to find and prototype innovative solutions using large language models (LLMs). You'll gain hands-on experience developing these solutions into functional and user-friendly web-based chat applications. Additionally, you'll assist in deploying these applications onto enterprise platforms, gaining valuable insight into agentic workflows.
Responsibilities 🛠️
- Develop web-based LLM-based applications including work on frontend (20%), backend (60%) and DevOps (20%)
- Test and utilize modern LLM-based concepts such as chains, agents, entity memory, and prompt engineering
- Integrate existing systems to add amazing natural language-based user experiences
- This is a hybrid role requiring your presence onsite 3 days per week, where you will report to the group Engineering Manager
Minimum Qualifications 📚
- Used or built applications powered by LLMs
- Experience with LangChain or similar LLM workflow frameworks; in particular building multi prompt workflows
- Experience as full-stack developer using Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience building stateful web applications using technologies such as React, Fast API, DynamoDB, Postgres, WebSockets, Server Side Events
Nice to Haves ✨
- Experience designing prompts using known and experimental prompt engineering techniques
- Machine learning knowledge especially in NLP or Transformer models
- Experience with OpenAI API, GCP Vertex or similar
- Experience deploying applications to production environments including the ability to manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, AWS resources, and Kubernetes resources
