As we build the best commute carpooling solution, our team of approximately 100 individuals actively develops and tests our product in France, Belgium, and Switzerland, serving thousands of daily carpoolers.
🎯 Your Mission 🎯
We seek a talented Python Backend Engineer to join our Compliance & Operations squad in developing BlaBlaCar Daily. Your expertise will be instrumental in tackling technical challenges and driving product feature developments related to fraud prevention, payment systems, compliance with internal and external processes, and security requirements. From early conception meetings to development, testing strategies, and deployment in production, you'll play a pivotal role throughout the development lifecycle. While primarily focused on backend features, occasional contributions to our frontend projects are expected.
💼 Your Responsibilities 💼
- Participate in the entire application development lifecycle, including early-stage product meetings, architecture design, development, testing strategies, deployment to production, monitoring, alerting, and support.
- Collaborate with other engineers on the team to develop backend projects, ensuring quality processes and contributing to innovative fraud-fighting features and platformization efforts.
- Adapt existing feature implementations to address growing scalability challenges.
- Develop new functionalities to meet internal and external compliance requirements in the markets we operate.
🎓 Your Qualifications 🎓
- At least 3 years of experience in backend development. Our internal stack is Python (Flask), but experience with Django or APIrest is also valuable.
- Familiarity with databases, especially relational ones like PostgreSQL (including the PostGIS extension).
- Strong computer science background, encompassing database design, algorithms and data structures, networking, abstractions, and security.
- Ability to strike a balance between rapid iterations and high-quality delivery.
- Proven capability to take research problems from conception to production-ready solutions for our users.
- Fluent in English.

- Experience with machine learning algorithms applied to fraud prevention.
- Familiarity with developer tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions.
