About the role
With over a million professionals using our platform, we recognise the huge importance of having a great mobile app experience. As such we’re looking for an experienced developer to join our Professional App team to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You’ll be someone who loves innovating and problem solving, and is passionate about writing scalable, testable and maintainable code to support our fast growing team and user base.
We’re looking for someone who can work on an established React Native app. However this is just the beginning - we have large ambitions for where we want to go over the coming months and years, and your experience will help to shape our strategy and design as we continue to grow. You’ll have the opportunity to shape our expanding product offering and work on greenfield projects.
You’ll guide the future of Bark whilst evolving an app that is used by hundreds of thousands of professionals around the world. You’ll be involved in every aspect of the process from ideation and design, right through to implementation.

REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities
- Translation of UX/UI designs into production quality mobile experiences, using our Mobile App stack (React Native, JavaScript, Redux)
- Knowledge sharing and mentoring other developers to support their development in React Native
- Optimisation of code build, test and deployment cycles to ensure the best performance of our mobile application
- Working with React (web) developers to cross-train and spot opportunities for next-generation mobile applications
- Proactively propose and implement improvements to the codebase
- Designing and coding solutions for systems with 1000s of operations per second
- Collaboration with product managers and designers to create prototypes necessary for usability evaluations, A/B and MVT testing and development specifications
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years experience working with Front end frameworks in a production environment (React Native, React, Vue, Angular or similar)
- 3+ years experience in Mobile App development
- 2+ years recent experience working specifically with React Native
- Proven, hands on experience with Javascript
- A solid understanding of and ideally experience with React Native component libraries
- Experience managing or creating deployment pipelines
- Familiarity with the mechanics of App deployment and approval processes
- A good understanding of application test tooling and pipelines
- Strong experience building mobile applications optimised for rich and interactive user experiences
Desired skills and experience
- Web development experience using React
- Experience with Objective-C, Java, Android Studio or other native app development technologies
- Experience of the emerging field of PWAs
- Experience with automated test tooling and CI/CD pipelines
