As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, you will own features end-to-end, from research and prototyping through to scalable, production-grade deployment.
At CarCutter, AI is built to deliver best-in-class e-commerce imagery in a highly competitive market. We actively leverage the latest generative technologies (e.g. image-to-video), while holding ourselves to strict standards of efficiency and commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities 🔑
- Own computer vision and generative AI features end-to-end, from research and prototyping through to staging and production deployment.
- Evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision and GenAI technologies (open-source or API-based) using a rigorous, scientific approach, benchmarking performance against real-world use cases.
- Design, implement, and optimize production-grade pipelines with a strong focus on inference performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into customer-facing products.
- Stay up to date with advances in computer vision, machine learning, and generative models, and assess their relevance and maturity for production use.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering system design, model behavior, evaluation methodology, and operational considerations.
Qualifications/Skills 🎓
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field, with 5+ years of industry experience in AI and computer vision.
- Strong proficiency in Python and deep expertise in PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience across the computer vision stack, including classical image processing and signal-processing techniques, deep learning–based perception models (e.g. segmentation, detection, refinement), and generative models such as diffusion architectures, with the ability to make informed trade-offs between quality, robustness, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to take AI systems from concept to production, including deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to align technical decisions with business constraints.
- High degree of ownership and autonomy, with a pragmatic, results-driven mindset suited to fast-moving, competitive environments.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Preferred:
- Contributions to open-source AI or computer vision projects.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for machine learning systems.
- Practical experience deploying and operating models in the cloud, preferably on AWS, including inference performance optimization.
