Who Are We Looking For? 🔍
We seek a motivated and experienced Lead Data Architect to shape the future of our data initiatives within Woven City. You'll lead the technical direction of the team to design, build, and deploy scalable data architectures and pipelines that support the city's diverse data needs. Collaborate with other teams within the Woven City ecosystem to architect and implement secure and scalable data integration layers between various components and our platforms, including data governance and security components.
This role requires a deep understanding of data-intensive applications, scalable data architectures, and modern data management practices. You should have a passion for driving innovation, solving complex data problems within a large-scale environment like Woven City, and mentoring and guiding other engineers. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will lead discussions with other teams to reach technical agreements.
You will report to the head of the department, and the work style is hybrid (office and remote).
Responsibilities: 🛠️
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of Woven City’s data architecture, addressing technical challenges, mitigating risks, and supporting cross-team collaboration.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers across the company to translate high-level goals into actionable data solutions, ensuring seamless integration with data sources, APIs, and third-party tools.
- Architect efficient, scalable systems for data collection, storage, processing, and analytics tailored to Woven City’s requirements.
- Establish and enforce best practices in data modeling, data quality, testing, and documentation, while mentoring data engineers to foster growth and excellence.
- Conduct code and architecture reviews, providing guidance on system performance optimization, data lifecycle management, and data security.
Minimum Qualifications: 🎓
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, focused on complex, data-intensive applications and collaboration with data engineering teams.
- Strong background in data modeling, database design, and data warehousing solutions.
- Expertise in scalable data architectures and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), with proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Deep understanding of data security, governance, performance optimization, and scalability in cloud environments, with a proven track record of implementing data platforms that meet critical business needs.
- Proficient in business-level English and conversational Japanese, with strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Nice to Haves: ✨
- Experience building data platforms for smart cities or large-scale IoT environments.
- Proficiency with data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Databricks).
- Strong background in statistical methods, data analysis tools for large-scale environments, and traditional business intelligence, including structured dashboarding strategies.
- Familiarity with LLM prompt-engineering and the LangChain ecosystem (e.g., PineCone, AutoGPT, PromptLayer, LlamaIndex).
