Our team, Digital Twin Platform, as one of the core Social Infrastructures & Platforms teams under the Woven City umbrella, is responsible for contributing to the realization of Woven City's vision: "To pave the way towards the next generation of movement on a test course that empowers innovation."
By developing a robust software platform, on one hand to enable inventors and business owners to “test” their products in a virtual environment before deploying to the physical Woven City; on the other hand, to create analytics to assist in decision making based on both simulated results and more importantly operational data collected from the physical city, such as residents daily life, traffic dynamics, energy consumption, etc.
As the Digital Twin Platform is still in its early growth phase, you'll have the rare chance to influence not just what we build but how we bring it to market and experiment with different business models as the platform and its commercial strategy mature together.

🤔 WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 🤔
We are looking for an Engineering Lead (Squad Lead) who is passionate about bringing digital twins to life and excited to be part of our journey. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role, closer to an Engineering Lead rather than a traditional people-management-heavy Engineering Manager.
As part of a matrix-based organization, you will lead a squad of 5–10 engineers, driving the delivery of key components of our Digital Twin Platform, building scalable, extensible capabilities while developing custom packages and tools that solve real problems for factory customers. Critical to your success is the ability to align cross-functionally, working closely with other engineering squads, product, and business development teams to ensure requirements, priorities, and schedules come together to deliver real business value.
🚀 RESPONSIBILITIES 🚀
- Engage with customers in line with Business Development strategy, explore customer needs, and propose solutions utilizing the Digital Twin Platform
- Own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of a set of platform modules — from backlog refinement and sprint planning through to release and production support
- Build a positive team culture and remove any obstacles that keep the team from being content and productive
- Drive a culture of continuous delivery, ensuring frequent, reliable, and high-quality releases
- Collaborate with other technical leaders and senior engineers to make sound technical decisions that support scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Act as the primary point of contact for delivery commitments, progress updates, and risk communication to stakeholders
🎓 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 🎓
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including 5 years as a back-end developer (Java, GoLang or Python)
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering team or squad (including task allocation, mentoring, and delivery ownership)
- Platform thinking understanding — you know how to build a scalable, extensible core product that can be customized without compromising stability or maintainability
- Working proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar) with experience facilitating ceremonies and managing backlogs
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product managers, customers, and senior leadership
- Business level proficiency in English
⭐ NICE TO HAVES ⭐
- Experience working with Digital Twin frameworks or standards (e.g., Azure Digital Twins, AWS IoT TwinMaker, DTDL, or similar)
- Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS platforms or products with a core + extensions model
- Experience managing a team in a scaled agile or multi-squad environment
- Experience working in a matrix-based engineering environment
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement end-to-end data lifecycles — from ingestion and transformation through to consumption and archival —
- Experience working on data lifecycles that feed into or support Machine Learning workloads, including considerations around feature engineering, training data management, model versioning, and data pipeline reproducibility
- Japanese communication skills (equivalent to JLPT N3+)
