Back-End Engineer in a data intensive environment

About the job / Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Back-End Engineer to join our engineering team where she/he will have the opportunity to:

  • Improve the scalability and efficiency of our "well-sized" set of services: we are developing 20+ services responsible for processing billions of Wi-Fi detections daily and giving back insightful data thru web interfaces & BI tools (we are Tableau lovers) to our customers. We are looking for candidates that are interested in building solid APIs & services on top of modern technologies such as AWS, Go, Python, Docker, and React.
  • Keep our product secured and respectful of European regulations
  • Mentor less experienced developers and help the CTO to build a joyful engineering team,
  • Address our client's needs by being an actor of change and by having a huge impact on the roadmap elaboration,
  • Ship your code daily: we do Continuous Integration and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), backed by the Github Flow.

Skills and Qualifications

You must feel at ease with the following statements:

  • you have a result-based culture and have a client-oriented approach,
  • you have practical knowledge, experience, or strong interest in building a solid, useful, and easy to refactor solution,
  • you work easily or are willing to work with agile concepts (user stories, sprints),
  • you take pride in shipping quality/tested/reviewed/performant code: all-around testing, TDD, peer reviews, continuous integration,
  • you fit well within a team and believe in self-improvement and mutual support.

Whilst being far from mandatory we will privilege candidates that have or are:

  • 1+ years’ experience, ideally in small structures (<50 people)
  • Experiences with Docker
  • Proficient in either Python, Go, or Javascript
  • Familiar with public cloud deployments (Azure, AWS, or GCE)
  • Not afraid of OAUTH :)

You will find in our stack: Python (Pandas, Django, Flask), Go, Scala, Javascript (React, Redux, Highcharts), Ansible, Terraform, Docker... and more important an openness to other languages and technologies.
